Job Description/Summary
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Data Entry Clerk is a non-professional, non-licensed, worker who has completed an on-the-job training program. The primary function of the Data Entry Clerk is to be responsible for all, or an assigned portion, of the data entry functions for the Central Billing Office.
RESPONSIBLE FOR
Performing accurate data entry of new patients, charges and/or payments/adjustments into our software system.
SPECIAL DEMANDS
Must be able to accept responsibility and respect authority. Must demonstrate good judgment and common sense. Must be willing to work under pressure. Must be able to accept constructive criticism. Must be able to hold in confidence medical records of all patients. Must be able to work with individuals of all ages.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Must have completed the twelfth grade level of school.
EXPERIENCE: Must have exceptional typing skills, to include both accuracy and speed. Background of previous medical data entry desired. Previous insurance knowledge helpful.
WORK PERFORMED (May include some or all of below)
1. Collecting all required information from clinic for entering patients into our computer software and for updating data for returning patients.
2. Collecting and verifying all charges received for each work day for the month. Entering of daily charges and verifying batch totals for accuracy.
3. Collecting all data from clinics for deposits made by the clinic. Entering of payments and adjustments for daily clinic deposits. Verify batch totals for accuracy.
4. Making and/or overseeing daily CBO deposits, balance and enter payments/adjustments on patient’s accounts.
5. Entering deposits on to appropriate deposit summaries.
6. End of the Month balancing of deposit summaries, report generation, etc.
7. Notify supervisor of any problems in completing job by required deadlines, or any clinics behind in sending necessary information to the CBO for completion of job duties.
8. Any other duties as assigned by the CBO Manager or Director of Reimbursement.
